Praying Mantis Kung Fu Workshop
This style is one of Master Zuo Juans specialties, and both she and Master Shao
will conduct this much anticipated and very exciting workshop.

Master Zuo Juan was 1997 China Female National Open Overall Champion & World Wushu
Champion. The workshop is suitable for all levels of Kung Fu and Internal Kung Fu
members.
Tai Chi members with reasonable stamina will also be suited. It is believed this
style was created around 1203-1275 in the Song Dynasty, during a gathering of 18
masters on a mission to improve the martial arts of Shaolin.
The style is inspired by the aggressiveness and characteristics of the praying mantis
insect.
This is the rare workshop which showcases one of Kung Fus most characteristic styles—dont

Australian Team Selected for the 10th World Wushu Championships
The Australian Kung-Fu (Wushu) Federation National Wushu team will be participating
in the 10th World Wushu Championships to be held in Toronto, Canada from October
24 - 29, 2009. The following has been selected to be part of the Australian National
Wushu team.

Visits Sydney
China's Vice Minister of Sport & Vice President of the Internatoional Olympic Committee,
Mr Yu Zhaiqing and International Wushu Federation delegation visits Sydney - hosted
by Shao Zhao Ming as one of AKWF's representatives.

The VIP delegation visited Sydney on 5-8 March 2009 as part of efforts to promote
Wushu development and recognition in Australia. Master Shao hosted the delegation
in Sydney along with Master Dong and Mr Walt Missingham (President AKWF) on behalf
of the AKWF.

The school has again been invited to participate in the Crown's Chinese New Year
celebrations. Students of TWIA and Master Shao will be performing at the main stage

Summer Classes & Qi Gong Revision Workshop January 2009
Summer classes welcome students of Tai Chi, Wushu and Bagua Zhang from all locations.
Fees for the Summer Classes will be contributed to the Competitions Fund which was
decided at the last Instructor's meeting to support TWIA representatives.

QiGong Revision Workshop Tuesday 13/1/2009
The Qigong revision workshop is an opportunity for those who have taken previous
QiGong workshops to revise their skills. New participants are also welcome to follow
and try to keep pace with the group.
